Malacca - Johore Trip 2012

Upon cheking out from the hotel, early the next morning which was a Saturday with a refreshed body and crystal clear mind we started our journey again. The sky was dark in the horizon as a sign that the rain is coming our way.

Good prediction!
After only a few kilometers drive, heavy rain start to hit the ground. Mist everywhere and we just have to follow the car PDP 1238 in front of us for direction. The car driver is our friend Mr. Pang Wee Seng.

According to Mr Pang, there is a special Noodle which we have to taste when visiting Malacca. These Noodle is called Fried Shrimp Noodles which can be found at Kampong Lapan.

Pang Wee Seng taste the first bowl of Fried Shrimp Noodle. The noodle taste is good but the environment is noisy due to strong wind and heavy rain.

We ignored the heavy rain and continued our journey for the next food destination which happen to be in Malacca Town.

The man who cooked the Noodles.

The Noodles price list paste on the side of his Noodles Stall.

Hand Make Fish Ball - delicious and soft.

Duck Noodles (Mee) - in soup : Tasty and the meat is soft.

 Duck Noodles (Mee) - Dry

Duck Noodles (Mee Hoon) -  Dry (after stir)

Satisfying faces after consuming the delicious food.

Please note that we always split the food into two meaning two persons shared one bowl in order to budget our stomach space for the next food destination. That's why it's good to travel in pair of four or six.

By now the rain has stopped and the Brother Sun is smiling at us.

Our next stop was at a Nyonya Shop who sells Nyonya delicacy namely Bak Chang or wrapped stuff glutinous rice.

Wrapped Glutinous Rice hanged at the entrance of the shop.
The colored glutinous rice to be wrapped and stuffed with meat to add flavour and taste.

The mouth watering Famous Nyonya Bak Chang.

We also tasted their delicious Nyonya Rolled Popiah which according to Mr Pang is a must taste delicacy when visiting Malacca.

Then we drived on towards Muar, Johore while Mr Pang is heading home as he is having a badminton Tournament in the evening at Malacca.

My street photography alertness kicked in when I saw the driver in the taxi next to us checking his lucky numbers. Hopefully he will strike one of those numbers in the near future.

As street photographer is always a street photograher.
I started with, "You have a great black hair. Those curl on your forehead makes you looks handsome."
With that I took a candid shot and respond with, "Some say I looks like Shah Rukh Khan."
Then we have a good laughs at the petrol station.

With a joyful heart and our car tank full, we head for Muar, Johore.

The sign shows that we are at Muar, Johore.

As it's was lunch time, we headed for some Wantan Mee (Noodles).

And some famous Muar delicacy especially Otak Otak or minched fish cake.
BBQ Otak Otak.

After finished the Otak Otak, four of us as shown in the reflection went to Chew Chee Long's friend shop. Her name is Ms Annie. She is beautiful, generous with her smile and helpful. She will be our private tour guide in Muar.

Some of the interesting building in Muar Town.

Then we followed our guide to an Otak Otak Muar factory for a sightseeing and purchase some otak otak to bring back to Petaling Jaya.

At the factory, they also sell the ready cooked otak otak beside the frozen packed uncook otak otak.

Then we drived on by following the car driven by Ms Annie and we passed a goft course not far from a river.

At the end of the ride, we stopped at a wharf called Jeti Tanjong Emas Muar.
The group striked a pose...Ms Annie, Mr Chew Chee Long, Agnes Ngieng and Irene Aik. After this we split with Ms Annie and we head for batu Pahat, Johore.

At Batu Pahat, we stayed for the night at Chew Chee Long's auntie's house.
Famous landscape in Batu Pahat.

As we drive home to Chew Chee Long's auntie house, I managed to capture this image of a Catholic Church, "Gereja katolik St. Henry".

We have not much activity in the evening and this is my last shot for the day, some of the interesting old shops in batu Pahat.

As we are a bit tired, we took an early sleep.

The next day we have a new destination based on Chew Chee Long's cousin recommendation.
Hope to see you again in the last part of this journey.
Stay healthy and drive safe.

Novena to the Holy Spirit & Pentecost Vigil 2012

St Ignatius Church (SIC) Chrismatic Prayer Group which is lead by Lawrance Choong is having a Novena to the Holy Spirit and Pentecost Vigil .

Location: St Ignatius Church, Kelana Jaya, Petaling Jaya.

 Here is their invitation:

 Peace be with you all!

We, the members of St Ignatius Charismatic Prayer Group would like to extend this invitation to all of you and the members of your prayer group to join us on this great Feast of Pentecost.

For more information, kindly contact:

Lawrance Choong @ 012 228 2408
Richard Lai @ 019 333 1002
Gail Massang @ 012 942 9411

Acts 1:8 'You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you will be my witnesses'.

Based on my own experience, God's love is something you have to experience to know what God's love really is.

This is the best place and time to experience God's love in abundance.

Note:
Come with an open and expectant heart. And ready to receive whatever He want to gives you. Amen.

Here is my testimony on God's Love and His holy Spirit:  Holy Spirit-My Beloved Friend

"A tree is known by it's fruits" is the key to know the spirit that is in you.
Good tree bears good fruits and bad tree bears bad fruits as bad tree can not bear good fruits.

As so does the spirit.

Happy weekend and may God's love be always in your hearts and actions.

Another note: I will be at St Ignatius Church (SIC) tonight to capture the photos of the candidates for Sacrament of Confirmation. Our Archbishop Tan Sri Murphy Pakiam will grace the occasion.

Malacca Trip 2012.1

Lets continue our journey from my last posting entitled Malacca Trip-2012 where we have reached the Hotel.

As we could not check in, we decided to place our luggages at the Hotel front office and continue our tour in Malacca Town.

Our first stop was at Malacca River which used to be a busy port in the old days during the Sultanate of Malacca.

A nicely built bridge accros the Malacca River but most people prefer the normal road. I considered this bridge as part of Malacca City beautification project to attract more tourist.

This couple looks like a tourist and actually they are Chew Chee Long and Irene Aik who were busy taking pictures.

This is one of the main street where a lady painter is busy painting her silk batik. She is a friendly lady and she invites me to see her works in her shop.

The lady painter works her wonders on a silk cloth in front of her shop.

Chee Long and Irene walked along the main street in front of a Chinese Temple.

A tricycle avoiding the on coming overhead dragon.

Too tired to move in the blazing hot sun, a man takes a quick nap in his colourful tricycle.

Chew Chee Long and I continued our journey up a hill to St Paul Church.

St Paul Church, Malacca from a front view.

Description of St Pauls Church based on the plate erected in front of the Church.
This church was originally a small chapel built by a Portuguese Captain called Duarto Coelho in 1521 and was called "Nosa Senhora - Our Lady of the Hill'. The chapel was handed over to the "Society of Jesus" and enlarged in 1556 with the additional of a second storey and named "Annunciation".
A tower was erected in 1590.
When the Dutch took over Malacca from the Portuguese in 1641 , they changed the church name to St Paul Church and they used it as a place for worship for 112 years until their own Church, the Christ Church was completed in 1753.

Christ Church which was built by the Dutch and completed in 1753. Since then their place of worship moved down here from St Paul Church on the hill above.

The ruin of St Paul Church also a favourite place for Wedding Photographers.

If you feel you are lost, you may get some information from this beautiful Tourist Information Centre.

Another good way to tour Malacca and get a better mileage is by bicycles as this lady on 'SAYANG 2'.

Thirsty while walking the blazing hot sun?
Don't worry.
Street drinks vendor is an easy way to quench your thirst.

In the afternoon, we hit the road again and we headed for Klebang Besar, Melaka.
According to our friend, Pang Wee Seng (ex-DKSH staff) now with Texas Instrument, Sunday Ice Cafe has something special for us.

Curry Bee Hoon is Pang's favourite.

And he also likes Ice Kacang.

And Rojak Sotong is for us. Not too spicy and it taste great.

Then came the Sunday Ice Cafe's special, a bowl mixer of ice cream, jelly, laicy, sweet corn, sweeten pears, cherries and sea coconut. Mixer of taste but its a good dessert.

Then we headed for another Malay famous stall looking for their famous Nasi Lemak in Kampong Kesidang, Melaka.

Agnes orders some food from a friendly Pak Cik.

 The stall famous Nasi Lemak.
The rice is well cook with a perfect mixer of coconut milk. The gravy is the real puller, it's not too hot, well cook to perfected the taste of the rice which accompanied by a delicious Chicken rendang.

Roti Boom is just an additional dish for us, the first timer to this stall.

Then having half full, we headed for home which happen to be Samantha's house.

There we were having BBQ chicken wings before we head for the Badminton Court to give our support to  Pang WS as he is representing his Company Texas Instrument in a Badminton Tournament.

Pang WS is in action and they won the match which mean they will play again the next day.

Our journey for food is not over yet even it's quite late after the game.

We go for our last food destination for the day which is HAJI MUSA MEDAN IKAN BAKAR SEGAR.

The team is heading to the Haji Musa Medan Ikan Bakar Segar.

It's near a small river.

Selection of sea food available at the Haji Musa Medan Ikan Bakar Segar.

We selected some prawns which were BBQ. Two prawns per person.

Fried Kailan for better digestion of the seafood.

 Kepah

Sweet and Soup Fish

Lastly fried sotong (cuttlefish).

We have utilised the whole day with food and sightseeing and it's almost midnight...we head for the hotel and ready for the next day.

According to our plan, the next day we will head for Muar and Batu Pahat, Johore for more food and sightseeing.

But that is another journey, another story...a Trip to Johore. Hope to see you in Johore.

"Happy Wesak Day'...Good night.
