Know the Street Session 2012-May 12th

On Saturday, I went for my weekly 'Know the Street Session' as I have been out of the street since March 23rd where I met the two Lindas from Hong Kong.

For the street, normally I will carry with me a pen, a note book, my camera Nikon D7000 with a Nikkor AF-S 50mm f/1.8G. Beside I also will buy 4 bottles of 500ml 100Plus. I need to drink at least 4 bottles or more else I will be sick the next day for over heating.
This time around, I attached my new Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II VC LD IF to my camera and I also brought along in my pouch Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G in case I need it. The main purpose for this session is to test my new Tamron lens in the street.
 
I started my journey from Kelana Jaya LRT Station and from the window of the train, I saw a clear blue sky ahead with a bit of clouds. This indicated the hot day for me and hopeful no rain.

Clear Path Ahead

I stopped at Pasar Seni LRT Station. The journey from Kelana Jaya Station cost me MYR 2.10.

I intended to go straight to see my friend, Hurdy who is one of my 100Strangers Project who used to do his shoe repairing business next to Pasar Seni LRT Station Bus Stop.

But before I got to cross the road, this uncle caught my eyes and his action touched heart.

Make Ends Meet

 We takes things for granted and yet some of us are too lazy to work or being choosy in job selection. How about those who has nothing to backup their job hunting.
When I saw this man, my heart trouble as I know he is working for survival in the city. He is looking for recycled items that he can sell and earn some money for his daily living.

As I crossed the road, my eyes searching for a familiar figure whom I knew as Hurdy and sure enough he is there, from afar I shout, "Hurdy! Apa khabar?" (Hurdy, How are you?) And he respond with, "Baik saja. Asal badan sihat, sudah bagus." (I am good. As long as my body is healthy, it's good enough for me.)

Shoe Repair is my Business

Hurdy seems to be very happy to see me and as usual we always talk about health but this time he added a new topic about Democracy in Malaysia. Wow! It seems that politic talks were every where as Bersih 3.0 were still fresh in their minds.

Then I walked towards  Petaling Street and passed Jalan Tun HS Lee, I saw a homeless man making the street as his home and bed. My heart was trouble again.

This reminded me of my own experience earlier in my life.

Street is my home

 Upon graduation from UiTM, Shah Alam with a piece of paper in hand and no working experience, I gambled my life in Sibu seeking for a job. All of the job I interviewed was asking for my experience and yet I have none. Life really not so good and a few times I make the street as my bed.
So when ever I see those who make the street as their bed, I can relate really well with my own experience with theirs as I have been there too.



Street Sweep

I believe their sense of belonging prompting the Petaling Street Vendors to keep their street clean as if it is their own home. I am proud for these vendors.

 This young man seems to be in his own world with his IPhone. He also walked to St Anthony Church just for sightseeing.

 I took a rest at St Anthony Church to be with the Lord and there the Lord brought me to met a lady with her nephew and niece. The Lord delivered his message to this lady whom introduced herself as Maria from Sacred Heart Church, Peel, Kuala Lumpur. She told me before they walked off, actually she was waiting for the words which I have spoken to her. Then she walked off with a consoled and peaceful heart.
