St Ignatius Church got talents

This is Part Two of the 25th SIC Anniversary Family Fiesta 2013.
Let's continue with what St Ignatius Church has to offer. Rough observation during the event, I would say SIC got plenty of talents.
I am glad that they showcase their talent during this beautiful event which marked the 25th year the existance of St Ignatius Church. Proud to say that SIC is my Church, my place of worship and fellowship.

Let's meet this wonderful talents that grace the event and entainment the Church as a whole.

25th SIC Anniversary Family Fiesta 2013

As the days come near for the 25th St Ignatius Church (SIC) Anniversary Family Fiesta 2013, I have to make a decision on the gear which I have to take the photograph during this special event. The choice is either Nikon D7000 and lens Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 VC which I have used during ALL my previous official Church events or company events OR make a change with my new Olympus OM D E-M5 with it's kit lens 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3.

Some of my friends said the OM D E-M5 kit lens is good but not good enough for official assignment. They suggest that I better get 12mm f/2.0 and 45mm f/1.8 for performance in low light and better image quality. I want to have those two awesome lens if I can but my pocket is very shallow and very tight on the budget. Beside I have finished off my 2013 budget for camera and lens.

I am a jungle man and a martial artist. Normally the limitation gives me a push to bring out my best in doing of what I have to do. That's why I opted for the Olympus OM D E-M5. It's a challenge.  In the midst of all these, I have a thought like "If Robin Wong can do it 90%, I can do it 10% is already very good."

The event was great and the shooting was fantastic but when I open the images on my Notebook that Sunday night, I am doomed. ALL the photographs that I have taken during the event were horrible.
I cried out, "Oh My God! I need help."
First thought come to my mind, first thing in the morning I have to contact Robin Wong for console or any help he can give to at least how to make this images look better. I prefer shooting right than editing later. My Church Web Editor will screw me and his confident on this Olympus OMD E-M5 will surely drop as I am promoting this tool to him. I could not sleep that night, worrying of what I have done for being so confident in this new tool.

But when Monday came, I uploaded the same images to my PC and this is what I get which I will share with you. Appreciate your comment on these images for my growth. Beside you may go to my Flickr to view the the Out Of Camera version.

Road Accident: Puncak Alam Highway

It's Saturday, November 9th, 2013, a hazy cloudy day. Not good for colour photography but good for Black and White.

As we drove along Puncak Alam Highway early this morning, the traffic was slow down due to an accident at the junction going into Fairy Park. I did not witness the accident, I presume that the motor vechiles involved could not break in time that cause the accident based on the damage incurred.

Note: Camera setting still using my last night setting at ISO 1600..too fast to think of setting...lucky my fingers auto set the mode to P.

Surabaya: Jalan Ampel

We continued our journey to our next stop which was Jalan Ampel, the historical earliest Arab Muslim settlement in Surabaya. According to our tour guide, Ms Kimi the dwellers of these street are still practicing their old trades as can be seen in the streets of Jalan Ampel.

Mr Chew is roaring to go and capture some good images

Surabaya: House of Sampoerna

As we drive on, our tour guide informed us that our first stop for the day will be House of Sampoerna which is now a muzium and used to be a cigarette factory belong to the family of Putera Sampoerna. We were told that we will see the human robot where they can rolled and packed seven pack of cigarette per minute. We were very excited but unluckily we were not allowed to captured their images. For this experience, you have to see them yourself. They are really like robot, efficient and yet effective. They are REAL fast with their fingers and hands.

This morning at around 6.45AM on our way to the office, we were caught in a heavy traffic jammed at NKVE.

Far ahead as we approach Subang Exit, we saw the blue light blinking which indicated a car broke down or an accident occurred.

Elly the Henna Artist

Street Photography is my passion and I love to do it as it is the best way for me to know the characters on the street better. Beside I may make new friends in the process or grow my Flickr 100Strangers Project
I want to do street photography weekly if possible. Now I am settle with twice a month.

Who are these character?

Elly

One of these character whom I have met and having a short conversation twice in two weeks is Elly, the street Henna (Inai in Malay) designer.

His humble stall is at Jalan Melayu on the way to Masjid India, Kuala Lumpur.

How to find him?
Look for the images of henna decoration on his stall's wall or look for the man who wear Newcastle United FC Jersey.

Elly waiting for his customer
Elly who is originated from Gombak, Selangor had been in this business for many years and he is specialize in casual, party and wedding henna decoration. If you have any other request, you may ask him and he will give his best to meet your request.

Elly at work
On the way back from Jalan Masjid India, I saw Elly is busy with his work.

What do you think of his workmanship?

Normally it takes a few minutes to complete one hand decorated and it takes another 30 minutes to get it dry.

How much is the cost?

MYR 5.00 which I consider as cheap based of the uniqueness and quality of his work. He is good at his task and he is really an artist.

How long will the image last?
According to Elly, the image will last for a week. Not bad for a mere MYR 5.00.

If you are interested in doing some temporary decorated images on your hands or feet, you come to his stall at Jalan Melayu, Kuala Lumpur or you may make an appointment with him via his telephone number.

You may personally contact him at 012-329 5167.

Hope to see you again.

Appreciate your comment, please.

Happy Weekend and happy shooting.

Accident at Jalan Universiti. PJ

Today is Friday, the 12th of November, 2010.

Ms Norhafiza and her friend Ms Liza is having a good time after their morning breakfast at a Malay Restaurant opposite. The weather is cloudy with abit of dizzling amd the road is wet.

They are still talking with joy in their hearts knowing today is Friday and they have ready a good plans for the weekend with their family.

Sundenly a silver Merz driven at (claimed by the driver as at 40km per hour) lost control, skidding and smash the others cars, overturn and hit the two ladies.

Funny, how come a car driven at 40km per hour can over turn.

A yellow Proton Satria also hit by the Merz.

The driver in black shirt and brown trousers look at his car and informed everyone that he was driving at 40km per hour, knowing the speed limit along this road is 50km.

Side airbag activated

A silver car hit from the side.

One of the lady hit into the drain, right here.
She is still in the hospital at the moment (6.56pm) while the other has been discharged.

Many stories flying around.
Some say he is trying to overtake other car at high speed but lost control.
Some say he is avoiding the other car and lost control.
Only the driver knows the truth and also the bystander who were there at the moment of impact.
Please pray for Norhafiza who is still in the hospital.
"May she recover fully and may God gives her courage and strength. I Jesus name. i pray."
On another note, should there be a bumper on this straight road to slow down the traffic or a pedestrian crossing?
My hope there will a padestrian crossing install along this road.
May God bless Us and protect Us.
